Dear Sir/Madam

THE NON-DOMESTIC RATING (ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS) (SCOTLAND) ORDER 2005
THE COUNCIL TAX (ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS) (SCOTLAND) ORDER 2005

I am writing to you about legislation for electronic communications. The attached draft Orders will allow local authorities to issue both council tax and non-domestic rates notices to ratepayers, who have agreed to accept them, by electronic means without the requirement to issue a paper one.

I would be grateful if you could let me have any comments on the attached draft Orders no later than close of business on Friday 9 September. Copies of the drafts have also been sent to those listed in the attached annex. In the meantime if you should have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me on 0131 244 7025.

Yours sincerely

Ian Duncan
