Natural Justice Update

November 2009

Extract from the Executive Summary

The joint thematic inspection that led to the publication of the reportNatural Justicein April 2008, was commissioned as a result of widespread and increasing public concern about wildlife crime in Scotland.

While Inspectorates have systems for tracking the progress of their own recommendations as part of their routine monitoring, where joint inspections are carried out, joint assessments of progress are required.

This update report examines the extent to which our recommendations have been implemented some eighteen months later. It also considers the current climate, conditions and challenges now facing those who have an interest in, or are charged with, preventing, investigating and prosecuting wildlife crime.
