Implementation of Curriculum for Excellence is well underway, transforming education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from three to 18. Sustainable development is embedded in all areas of the curriculum, equipping the children and young people of today with the skills, knowledge and values they will require to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Teachers and other educational staff guide and support our children and young people as they learn through early years, primary school, secondary and senior phase. There are also innovative resources available including Glow, the schools' intranet, which connects all schools and opens up opportunities for networking and sharing ideas. It can provide the challenge and enjoyment to motivate children and young people and enhance their learning opportunities and experiences.
As part of our commitment to a whole-school approach and sustainable development education through Curriculum for Excellence it is important to highlight the scope for active learning through participation of young people in changes to reduce the school's ecological and carbon footprint. This includes work on school estates and travel plans.
