Steering Group Purpose
To steer, support and monitor the progress of increased health care capacity that will provide effective health care to the school age population within each of the demonstration sites on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Steering Group Remit
1) To oversee the new model of increased healthcare capacity for schools.
2) To provide advice, guidance and direction to demonstration sites as necessary.
3) To ensure all governance functions in relation to staff, clinical, information, education and decision-making are addressed.
4) To oversee and contribute to the direction and progress of the demonstration sites.
5) To ensure the required level of cross-cutting organisational co-operation and working is achieved.
6) To communicate with other NHS boards, local authority education departments other stakeholders as required.
7) To ensure that the model as described in Better Health Better Care is evaluated.
8) To approve the final report and ensure that the new model is ready to be implemented across Scotland.
Responsibility
The Steering Group is directly responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland and the Minister for Health and Community Care.
Membership and attendance
Membership is shown below.
Members can be represented by a named deputy only (details to be supplied to secretariat).
The Steering Group will be quorate with the following members in attendance:-
- Chair
- Deputy Chair
- Development Officer for Health Care in Schools
- Two representatives from each demonstration site
Steering Group meetings
The Steering Group will meet - TBC.
Submission of papers
Papers for the Steering Group should be with secretariat (in electronic format) no later than two weeks before the meeting date.
Tabled papers should be agreed in advance with the Chair.

The Steering Group will have secretariat support as necessary.
