Enterprise and Energy Analytical Service Unit
The Enterprise and Energy Analytical Service Unit is part of the wider Office of the Chief Economic Adviser. The Unit provides economic and statistical support to the Enterprise and Energy Directorate of the Scottish Government. Areas covered include:
regional policy (European Structural Funds and Regional Selective Assistance);
analysis of industrial sectors;
research and development;
enterprise networks; and
energy.
The Unit is also responsible for statistics on energy and the corporate sector; as well as the development of research to support enterprise and energy policies.
In addition to providing briefing and advice for Scottish Government Ministers and senior officials, the Unit's work is published in Government reports on the economy and Scottish Economic Statistics. The Unit's economists and statistician's have also contributed to work surrounding the Government Economic Strategy and regularly publish research on the Scottish Government internet site.
In more detail, the Unit provides advice on:
Economic advice on regional/industrial policy;
Economic appraisal of large Regional Selective Assistance cases;
Economic impact assessments;
Advice and analysis on the knowledge economy, high-tech sectors, including e-commerce, and Research and Development;
Economic Advice on Enterprise Companies;
Advice and briefing on small firms in Scotland;
Advice and briefing on sectors of the Scottish economy; and
Economic and statistical advice on Energy issues.
