DG JUSTICE AND COMMUNITIES

Communities Analytical Services

The economists within Communities Analytical Services support the Cabinet Secretary for Health & Wellbeing and the Minister for Communities & Sport in delivering their portfolio goals by providing high quality information and economic advice, and through strengthening the evidence base of key policy areas.

They provide analytical, appraisal, evaluation and advisory support to the Scottish Government's policy divisions in all areas dealing with:

  • Housing policy
  • Planning policy
  • Area regeneration policy
  • Income and Poverty issues

As well as collaborating with Research and Statistician colleagues in Analytical Services on Housing and Regeneration research projects, they also provide analytical and advisory support to the National Conversation team and to policy divisions across Communities DG.

Alongside internal and external briefing notes on the housing market in Scotland and the UK, the economics team provides housing market analysis including the Scottish national housing affordability model and advice to colleagues in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser. They work closely with the Centre for Housing Market Analysis ( http://www.scotland.gov.uk/chma) and work closely with Local Authority partners on Scottish Housing Quality Standard and other issues.
