Energy Consents - How do I Support/Object?

Once an application for consent has been received the applicant shall, in two successive weeks, publish an advert stating:

  • That the application has been made, the purpose of it, together with a description of the land to which it relates
  • A place in the locality where a copy of the application, and of the map referred in it, can be inspected
  • The date by which representations should be made as well as the address where these should be sent

The Energy Consents and Deployment Unit, where applications are:

  • In excess of 50 megawatts (MW) for onshore wind farms and power stations that are not wholly or mainly drive by water (such as coal/gas or nuclear plant)
  • In excess of 1 megawatt (MW) for onshore generating stations wholly or mainly drive by water such as hydroelectric
  • Overhead power lines and associated infrastructure, as well as large gas and oil pipelines
