The Renewables Obligation (Scotland), or ROS, has been very successful to date in stimulating the growth and development of new renewables capacity in Scotland, largely from onshore wind and hydro power. The ROS is capable of providing additional, targeted support to help develop wave and tidal technology. This statutory consultation sought views on our detailed proposals for a Marine Supply Obligation, designed to deliver that support. It also contained a link to a wider UK consultation on further proposed changes to the ROS with respect to co-firing and small generators. (The consultation closed on December 12 2006, following from the preliminary consultation which closed on 3rd August 2006.)
A report entitled "Additional Support for Marine Electricity Generation in Scotland" - Volume I and Volume II - was published to accompany this consultation.
