The Community Regeneration and Tackling Poverty Learning Network (CRTP) has joined with the Employability Learning Network (ELN) to form a new Employability and Tackling Poverty Learning Network.

"We are excited by the new opportunity to make the links between the employability and tackling poverty agendas at a national and local level"

The learning network team

The new network will build on the excellent record of both the ELN and CRTP, running a programme of training, networking and information sharing, both through face to face events and the website.

The Employability In Scotland website is being updated to reflect the presence of 'Tackling Poverty' - new resources, case studies and information will appear shortly.

As always we are keen to hear your views and input on what the learning network can do to support you and improve service delivery in your area. If you have anything you would like to share please get in touch.

The Scottish Centre for Regeneration (SCR) was disbanded with effect from April 1, 2011.

The Scottish Government remains committed to the Learning Networks set up by the SCR. We are currently looking closely at the way in which we continue to support the work that these networks do. This will require a real focus on the priority activities that are most clearly in line with delivering the Government's Purpose.

Responsibility for co-ordinating the networks and the investigation of how best to deliver this now rests within the Scottish Government's Communities Analytical Services Division (CASD). Working within CASD also provides opportunities to maximise the combined impact of research and good practice dissemination, and Lesley Thomson, formerly of the SCR, is now based in CASD.

We will continue to work with key stakeholders on the detail of how learning networks can deliver valuable outcomes within the reduced resources available. To date we have passed responsibility for the Tackling Poverty Network to the Scottish Government's Employability and Tackling Poverty Division with Heather Smith continuing to be the officer responsible. The Mixed and Sustainable Communities Network now sits within the Scottish Government's Architecture and Place Division with Geraldine McAteer remaining as the contact.

CASD is currently looking at the best ways to deliver the remaining networks and further details will be published shortly.
