Best practice in affordable housing impact monitoring
In response to a request from local authorities for work to be carried out to ensure consistency in monitoring the impact of Affordable Housing Policy (AHP), a joint Association of Local Authority Chief Housing Officers/Scottish Government working group was established to develop best practice guidelines and a model template for council officers to use.
Two workshops were held in June 2010 to disseminate best practice with local authorities across Scotland. The workshops centred on inputs from Aberdeenshire and City of Edinburgh councils, who were involved in the working group that developed the best practice guidelines and template. Delegates also heard about Perth and Kinross and East Dunbartonshire councils' experience of road testing the template, which was followed by a question and answer session.
What next?
A best practice support forum will be set up to support implemenation of the template that will provide practical and technical support to local authorities wishing to use it. The best practice forum will meet as often as is required and will also offer a virtual support strand. Please contact Geraldine McAteer if you would like further information on this.
A learning point that captures the lessons and learning from the best practice workshops has also been produced.
