Tackling Multiple Deprivation in Communities

Sustaining area based approaches to regeneration and anti poverty activity in light of mainstreaming and the end of the Fairer Scotland Fund ring fence can be challenging. So how do we continue to address the pockets of complex multiple deprivation which persist in our communities?

This workshop, held in Glasgow Concert Hall on March 17 2010, asked:

  • What are the grounds for maintaining a place as well as a people focus to best fit local circumstances?
  • What information is available to support this?
  • What has been your experience to date and what are your local support needs?

We were joined by Jim McCormick, Scottish Adviser to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Dave Adamson, Director for the Centre of Regeneration Excellence, Wales who is also the author of the recent JRF report on the Impact of Devolution on Low income - People and Places.

A learning point has been produced to capture the key points from the presentations, debate and discussion that took place during the workshop.
