The call for proposals which the European Observation Network on Territorial Development and Cohesion (ESPON) was launch on August 24, 2011 and will include a research project on Key Indicators for Territorial Cohesion and Spatial Planning (KITCASP) in which the Scottish Government is the lead stakeholder. The other stakeholders are Ireland, Latvia, Iceland and the Basque Country. The project will explore the use of territorial data in developing and monitoring national spatial strategies and seek to identify key indicators of territorial cohesion, competitiveness and sustainable development to inform spatial planning at the national level. Further information for researchers interested in putting together a transnational project group to undertake this research is available on the ESPON web site.
