Consultation analysis

All stakeholder responses to consultation documents are analysed and reported. Some of these are commissioned projects undertaken by independent contractors, some are undertaken in-house. Recent commissioned analysis:

  • Resourcing a high quality planning system
  • Extending Permitted Development rights for air source heat pumps and micro-wind turbines in domestic sector
  • Extending Permitted Development Rights for microgeneration in non-domestic sector

Mediation in planning case studies

In 2008 the Scottish Government published guidance on the role of mediation in resolving planning development and enforcement disputes. A series of three case studies have been commissioned to further describe and evaluate the role of mediation of planning disputes. Report available Spring 201

Quantification of GHG for spatial plans

This EU procured work aims to review existing tools and methods for quantifying greenhouse gas emissions from spatial plans and policies and develop a new tool if required. It is due to complete May 2011.

Impact of vessels on dolphins in the Moray FirthThe research is led by Scottish National Heritage with Scottish Government, The Highland Council, Marine Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise contributing. It is due to complete July 2011.The aim of this project is to gather evidence to better support assessment of the likely impacts on Natura interests of the very significant development aspirations around the Moray Firth.

Key Indicators for Territorial Cohesion and Spatial Planning (KITCASP)The Scottish Government is lead partner in an expression of interest in a Priority 2 ESPON research project on Key Indicators for Territorial Cohesion and Spatial Planning (KITCASP). The other partners are Ireland, Latvia, Iceland and the Basque Country. The project would explore the use of territorial data in developing and monitoring national spatial strategies and other territorial development policies. ESPON is expected to announce the outcome of its assessment of the proposals submitted in response to the current call in August.
