Progress

January 2010 -Pre application consultation commenced on application for a new 132kV electricity substation and access at Crossaig Forest, Argyll. This will connect with a submarine cable linking East Kintyre to Hunterston in North Ayrshire, enabling greater output from renewable energy schemes which may be developed in the Kintyre peninsula to connect to the mainland transmission network

March 02, 2011 - Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) announces plans to scrap plans for a windfarm development near Kintyre, just over a mile off Machrihanish on the peninsula's west coast.

March 17, 2011 - A major tidal energy project is to be built in the Sound of Islay, the Scottish Government has approved plans to invest £40 million for 10 tidal turbines which will generate enough electricity to power more than 5,000 homes.
