Contribution to NPF Strategy

  • Supports strong, sustainable growth for the benefit of all parts of Scotland,
  • Encourages a sufficient supply of homes which are affordable and in places where people want to live.
  • Promotes development which helps to reduce Scotland's carbon footprint and facilitates adaptation to climate change.
Milestones2009-2011 - Targeted support for the 11 exemplar projects; general support available to everyone participating in Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative (SSCI); and monitoring and review of the support put in place. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of individual plans as required.

Progress

The Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative (SSCI), launched in 2008, aims to encourage projects that demonstrate ambition and vision in the creation of new places and in the regeneration of existing places. The Initiative also provides an opportunity to raise the profile of a variety of developments which will serve as exemplars, demonstrating innovation in design and delivery.

March 17, 2011 - The Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative - Two Years On report provides a summary of prominent issues and common themes emerging in the 11 exemplar projects, setting out the approaches taken by project teams, their achievements and also the challenges that they have faced over the past two years .
