Strengthening of Scotland - England electricity interconnectors to increase renewable energy export capacity to 3.2GW.

ProgressSPT Networks have commenced the 3,300MW Boundary B6 upgrade with a planned completion in 2013 in line with programme. Further upgrades to this Boundary, as set out in NPF2, are underway. The Incremental Reinforcements upgrade to increase the boundary B6 capacity to 4,400MW has started construction with planned completion in 2014. The Western HVDC sub-sea link upgrade, which will increase the boundary B6 capacity to over 6,000MW, is at the tender stage and is programmed to complete in 2015, however this is subject to regulatory funding being agreed by Ofgem by autumn 2011.
