Post 2009 - Continue to develop, design and deliver projects.

Post 2012 - 2022 - Develop, Design, Deliver Strategic Transport Projects in line with the recommendations from the Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR), taking forward the mitigation measures identified within its Strategic Environmental Assessment and Appropriate Assessment. Continue to invest in the national strategic transport networks to support sustainable economic growth

Progress

The construction of the Replacement Forth Crossing is the priority for investment. Whilst this major development is underway some other projects, particularly rail improvements, will also proceed. The first phase of the Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvements Programme is being delivered and new hourly fast services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were introduced in December 2009.

Network Rail is progressing plans for the Highland Main Line and the Aberdeen to Inverness line. Work is also continuing to take forward the development and design of the other 25 recommendations.
