Promote Fife as a key location for business and tourism activity.

Contribution to NPF Strategy

  • Supports strong, sustainable growth for the benefit of all parts of Scotland.
  • Supports sustainable growth in the rural economy.
  • Expands opportunities for communities and businesses by promoting good connectivity.
  • Strengthen connectivity and increase public transport opportunities between Edinburgh City Centre, Edinburgh Airport, West Lothian and South Fife.

  • Promote the regeneration and neighbourhood renewal of mining communities in Mid Fife.

Milestones

2009-2012 - Through SESplan and T in Fife and supporting transport and environmental infrastructure through Local Development Plans and development management decisions. Consider the need for environmental assessment, appropriate assessment and detailed scheme level mitigation at plan or project level. AYplan Strategic Development Plans promote co-ordinated delivery of housing, business and employment sites.

ProgressThe Fife Economic Strategy commits to making Fife the easiest place to do business and a centre of excellence for renewable energy, manufacturing, research and services. An associated action plan has been approved by the Fife Economy Partnership. The Fife Tourism Strategy 2010 to 2020 was published in April 2010. The Fife Tourism Partnership Board is now working on the Tourism Action Plan.
