Milestones

Reflect the objectives of Noise Action Plans required under the terms of EU Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise in the preparation of development plans and associated action programmes, supplementary planning guidance (SPG) and development management application decisions.

ProgressImplementation of the Environmental Noise Directive through the Scottish Environmental Noise Steering Group has led to noise mapping and action plans for Edinburgh and Glasgow conurbations, plus major airports, road and rail links. Guidance for managing noise is being prepared.
