| Milestones | 2012- 2022 - Implement Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR) project 17 - Highland Main Line taking forward the mitigation measures identified within its Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA). Continue to invest in the national strategic transport networks to support sustainable economic growth. |

| Progress | Transport Scotland is working closely with Network Rail and First ScotRail to progress service frequency and journey time improvements between Inverness and Edinburgh/Glasgow. It is anticipated that the first phase of the project will be delivered in December 2011. |
