Consider need for further environmental assessment, appropriate assessment and detailed scheme level mitigation including design, protection of biodiversity, measures to reduce effects on health, air quality, noise, water, soils, landscape and cultural heritage and long term assessment of carbon impacts. | Progress (2) | Airport Surface Access Strategy was published in 2009. Strathclyde Partnership For Transport (SPT) supports measures to deliver improvements in surface transport to Glasgow Airport and the development of airport infrastructure. A study has been jointly commissioned by Glasgow Airport, Transport Scotland, SPT, Renfrewshire Council and Glasgow City Council to consider the strategic transport network that serves the airport, how the network performs and what the transport planning objectives should be to improve the network. This study will be completed by summer 2011. SPT is a member of the BAA led steering group and actively supports the strategic transport study for Glasgow Airport including providing a funding contribution to the initial capacity study. |

Progress (3) | September 17, 2009 - As part of the draft budget statement to Parliament, Scottish Ministers announced the cancellation of the branch line element of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link project. Work on the main line between Glasgow Central and Paisley will continue. |

Progress (4) | Up to 2020, the Draft Airport Master Plan anticipates that forecast passenger demand can be substantially accommodated by existing airport facilities. Between 2020 and 2040, more significant development may be required, including additional aircraft parking stands, terminal facilities and airport related uses. The need for a second runway may also need to be reviewed around 2040. |
