Progress

URC Projects on site - £35m industrial & business park close to the Games Venue and M74 extension with a capacity for 1500 jobs.

Redevelopment of B-Listed Olympia Building at Bridgeton purchased with resources from Scottish Government Town Centre Regeneration Fund.

URC in partnership to redevelop Dalmarnock Station and relocation of Strathclyde Police Force's Station HQ to the area

Other activity - M74 extension, Phase 1 of the East End Regeneration Route, National Indoor Sports Arena & Velodrome and preparatory works for the 2014 Athletes Village

Plans to upgrade the last non-motorway section of the M8, connecting to the M74 have been given the go ahead, completion time is estimated to be in late 2014 - early 2015.

June, 2011 - the URC's site assembly programme is well advanced. Projects on site include a £35m business park at Clyde Gateway East that is being delivered in partnership with the private sector and will exploit the economic opportunities created by the M74 completion and East End Regeneration Route; and the redevelopment of B-Listed Olympia Building at Bridgeton, which was partly funded by the Town Centre Regeneration Fund. Clyde Gateway URC is working in partnership to redevelop Dalmarnock Station and is advancing pre-development work on key employment sites in Dalmarnock and Shawfield.

March, 2011 - The first passenger car journey is completed along the £445 Million Pound M74 extension in Glasgow, the road is still a few weeks from completion but once completed will fill in the 'missing link' in Glasgow's motorway system.

February, 2011 - The Moodiesburn bypass, a key section of the M8 Stepps to Haggs project has been opened and will reduce traffic through the villages of Moodiesburn, Chryston and Muirhead by 70%.
