About the schemes

The Energy Assistance Package, Home Insulation Scheme and Boiler Scrappage Scheme contribute to meeting the Scottish Government's challenging emissions reductions targets as well as increasing the take-up of domestic energy efficiency measures while helping to tackle fuel poverty.

Heating your Home

Everyone should have a warm home. But in a time of rising utilities costs that can be expensive.

The Scottish Government offers several ways to help, both by offering assistance to those on low incomes and by helping make your home more energy-efficient, so it costs less to heat. This also means fewer emissions into the environment.

Our Energy Assistance Package offers free expert energy advice for everyone, as well as benefits and tax credit checks to those at risk of fuel poverty, cavity wall and loft insulation to older households and those on one of a range of benefits, and enhanced energy efficiency measures to those most vulnerable to fuel poverty.

The Universal Home Insulation Scheme, which runs in some local authority areas, may entitle you to free or discounted insulation, making your home warmer and cheaper to heat.

And under the Boiler Scrappage Scheme, householders, on a first-come, first-served basis can get a voucher towards the replacement of certain inefficient boilers.
