Market Evidence

The Scottish Government uses market evidence to set local housing allowances and to determine fair rents.

There are two types of market evidence. Transactional evidence comes from the rent actually paid by a tenant for a home of a particular size in a particular area. Non-transactional evidence, such as adverts in the local press, on shop windows and public bulletin boards can act as an indicator of local expectations.

Market evidence can be supplied by estate agents and letting agents, solicitors' offices and landlords and tenants, but you can submit market evidence on the approved Market Evidence Form.

Please print the form, complete and post it to the Rent Service Scotland office.
