The Wider Role Fund supports Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) to take on work in their local communities which goes beyond their principal role as landlords and which improves the lives of their tenants. The fund is focussed on tackling poverty at local level and projects reflect the current priorities for the fund:
- Improving employability
- Income maximisation
- Early intervention
Projects vary greatly in scope and scale, reflecting local circumstances, priorities and needs. RSLs may develop and deliver the project on their own, but increasingly RSLs work in partnership with each other and with other organisations to deliver projects and this is encouraged.
