From 2003-2008, funding for housing support services was provided through the Supporting People programme. From 1 April 2008, Supporting People funding was rolled up into the main local government settlement. The removal of the ring fence allows local authorities to develop more flexible support packages, reducing administrative and accounting functions to ensure maximum resources go to front line services.
Although Supporting People has now ended, local authorities and service providers may still find the archived guidance on the programme useful.
