Accredited Construction Details

In support of the standards within section 6 (energy), this document is provided to assist designers and verifiers in the understanding, application and verification of principles to limit both linear thermal bridging and air infiltration in new buildings.

2010 Technical Handbooks

For building warrant applications submitted on or after October 1, 2010, the guidance within the new Accredited Construction Details (Scotland) 2010 document should be referred to. Correct application of the principles set out in this document will assist the applicant in delivering a building that effectively limits infiltration and, within their chosen calculation methodology, will allow determination of building heat loss from junctions, calculated from psi-values assigned for individual junctions within the building insulation envelope.

Note that the Junction examples in Parts 1 to 5 must be read in conjunction with the Introduction, which gives guidance on principles for design and construction applicable in all detailing situations.

Introduction and principles (updated June 2011)
Part 1 - Full Fill Masonry Construction Details
Part 2 - Partial Fill Masonry Construction Details
Part 3 - Timber Frame Construction Details
Part 4 - Metal Frame Construction Details
Part 5 - Additional Common Junction Details

2009 Technical Handbooks

For building warrant applications submitted up to and including September 30, 2010, reference can be made to the previous Accredited Construction Details (Scotland) 2007. Correct application of the principles set out in this document permits an applicant to claim the following values within their chosen calculation methodology: a building y-value of 0.08 for linear thermal bridging and an infiltration rate of 10 m³/m².h.
