Structure and how we got to the Plan
Since Scotland's successful bid, work commenced on making sure a lasting legacy is sustained from the Games. From the outset we were clear that this is a legacy for the whole of Scotland. A consultation began in Feb 08 ending in a series of 16 public meetings across the length and breadth of Scotland to find out what the people of Scotland wanted to see from the Games.
We consulted widely to establish where and, as importantly, how we can best use the Games to benefit and leave a lasting legacy to all areas of Scotland. That included how Scotland can benefit from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. That consultation process comprised:
We then put in place a comprehensive Legacy Group Structure comprising internal and external stakeholders to develop a Games Legacy Plan taking account of feedback from the Games legacy consultation process. This will be a national plan that is focussed with realistic ambitions.
