Smarter Scotland

The Scottish Government has created a sub-group of key stakeholders to consider legacy ideas within the Smarter Government objective. Membership

Remit of the Sub-Group:

To use the Games to help achieve the Scottish Government's commitment to expanding opportunities for people in Scotland to succeed from nurture through to lifelong learning, ensuring higher and more widely shared achievements.

To this end the sub-group will support the work of the Scottish Legacy Forum by -

  • Maximising how we use both Games to expand educational opportunities across Scotland;
  • Maximise cultural benefits and opportunities from London 2012 the Cultural Olympiad and the 2014 Cultural programme once established, including input to the Games by the cultural sector and creative industries in Scotland;
  • Maximise the number and range of Scottish volunteers who can be involved in the both Games and ensure that they have the opportunity to remain in the volunteering community/network post-2014.
  • Strengthening good relations and understanding across cultures

The sub group will provide a summary report of each meeting to the subsequent Scottish Legacy Forum.
