The Scottish Government made a commitment in Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland: Policy and Action Plan 2009-11 to work with partners to improve the knowledge and understanding of self-harm and formulate an appropriate response. A consultation was carried out by the Scottish Government between 27 January and 21 April 2010 on the recommendations in the report of the independent Burial and Cremation Review Group. 102 responses were received. A phase 1 report covered: when a death occurs; death certification; and deaths abroad. This phase 2 report covers: burial; and cremation and alternative methods of disposal.
