| Description | The Scottish Building Standards require changes of level in buildings to be guarded by the provision of pedestrian protective barriers. Supporting guidance to the standards advises that only barriers within non-domestic buildings, where the presence of children is anticipated, should be designed to prevent children form passing through any openings.
