MAPPA Strategic Group Chair's Comment
This is the third annual report on the operation of the MAPPA arrangements in the Northern Community Justice Authority Area ( NCJA). The Responsible Authorities - Local Authorities, Scottish Prison Service, Police and Health Service are required to keep arrangements under review and publish an annual report.
The Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements ( MAPPA) Strategic Group has now been in place for two years and is continually reviewing existing processes in place, both operationally and from a strategic perspective, to ensure any enhancements required are carried out and thus strengthen our approach towards the management of offenders.
Immense effort and cooperation across the many agencies and responsible authorities involved in the process has created an environment in the Northern Community Justice Authority Area, where as far as is possible, the risks posed to the public are minimised through effective assessment and management of offenders.
The positive work and commitment that has been undertaken by all agencies to protect the people of the NCJA is detailed in this annual report.
