MAPPA Strategic Group Chair's Comment

The Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements ( MAPPA) Strategic Group are confident that good progress is being made between the responsible authorities at a Senior and Strategic level to meet the requirements of the MAPPA legislation and to review the operation of MAPPA.

In the first year of the group forming, we have reflected, reviewed and enhanced our processes which has strengthened our approach towards the management of offenders. Whilst it has been recognised that the many responsible authorities and duty to co-operate agencies in the Northern Community Justice Authority ( NCJA) area are at different stages of improvement we are encouraged by the progress across them all.

On behalf of the NCJAMAPPA Strategic group the Northern and Grampian MAPPA Co-ordinator's have compiled this second Annual Report.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all staff involved in the often complex and challenging work of public safety and the reduction of serious harm for their continuing commitment and professionalism in protecting the public, and we endorse this report accordingly.
