Bus shelters

  • All to be DDA compliant (subject to site constraints).
  • The use of lighting in new shelters will be investigated.
  • The use of solar powered illumination will be considered where appropriate.
  • The overall specification of new shelters will be determined by the status survey.
  • The local authorities' approved shelter contractor will install all shelters.
  • CCTV provision.

Bus poles

  • No litter bins erected on bus pole.

Road

Carriageway

  • Clearway markings to be provided at all stops and be a minimum of XXm in length.
  • Bus stop clearway plate to be erected at all stops.
  • Bus boarders installed where appropriate.

Footway

  • Minimum height for raised kerb is XXXmm at all stopping places.
  • Minimum X raised kerbs at each stop.
  • DDA compliance.
  • Boarding/alighting zone to be kept clear of street furniture.
  • Dropped kerbs to be considered near to bus stops.
  • Ramped access to bus stop from adjacent footway (i.e. no step access).

Information

Timetable information

  • Printed timetables to be provided at all stopping places along routes.
  • Printed information to meet DfT 'Access for All' guidance.
  • Rollout of RTPI.
  • Information for passengers on how to report damage to stops and shelters.
  • Disclaimer to be visible.

Interchange points

  • Where possible, display local area maps and local information.
  • Timetable information to enable connecting journeys to be made.
  • Signage to indicate to passengers where to make connections.
