Section E - Some Questions Answered

Before applying, can I check if my organisation is eligible to participate in the Scheme?

Yes. If you wish to check the eligibility of your organisation under this Scheme, we would recommend that you contact the Scottish Government at Pentland House (see contact details).

Can I check with anyone to see if a project might be eligible for funding?

Yes. In fact you are encouraged to discuss your project in outline with the Scottish Government before submitting a formal application. We will give an initial view on any outline proposal and give guidance on the application process and information needs (see contact details).

After my proposal is submitted for consideration, when can I expect a decision?

Provided the application and associated papers contain sufficient detail to make a full assessment of the project, you can expect a decision within 6 weeks of receipt of an application.

Can I canvass for additional financial support for the project?

Yes. Projects that can demonstrate substantial contributions from the industry or from other bodies will have a better chance of receiving a funding contribution from the Scottish Government.

If the project receives approval, are interim progress reports required?

Yes, if the project is to last more than 1 year or if interim payments are agreed. This will be clarified in discussion and in the grant offer letter.

Will my organisation have to wait until the project has been completed before receiving grant assistance from the Scottish Government?

If the project is a one-off event, then Yes.

If the project involves a series of events over an extended period, then interim payments can be agreed and confirmed in the offer letter. Payment is based on actual expenditure and receipted invoices, so any payment will be in arrears of expenditure.

Will the Scottish Government require an evaluation report at the completion of the project?

Yes. To ensure value for money, an end of project report will be a condition of the Scottish Government's financial contribution.
