ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This Volume was compiled by Dr Liz Levy, a Principal Researcher in Justice Analytical Services within the Scottish Government. She was also responsible for conducting and analysing the interviews with Local Authority Antisocial Behaviour Co-ordinators and the police, the analysis of which is presented in Chapter Three and Four. Liz would like to thank all who were interviewed for their time and openness and for their comments on early drafts of these Chapters.
The focus groups with the public were conducted by Hayton Consulting and Research Resource and analysed by Keith Hayton of Hayton Consulting. The interviews with the young people were conducted by Young Scot and again analysed by Keith Hayton. Keith wrote chapters Five and Six of this volume.
In connection with the focus groups with the public, we are grateful to the Scottish Household ( SHS) Survey Steering Group for allowing access to contact details from which we were able to select Focus Group invitees. We would also like to thank Johanna Mailhot, Data Manager at Ipsos MORI Scotland (the SHS contractors) for extracting details of those who met the study selection criteria.
We would like to thank all of those who accepted the invitations to attend the focus groups and share their experiences of antisocial behaviour and give their views on what should be done to combat it. We hope that their contributions will, eventually, result in improvements to their quality of life.
Similarly, we thank the young people who gave up their time to offer their own thoughts and experiences of ASB in interviews with Young Scot. We would also like to thank the organisations who worked with Young Scot to recruit young people to attend the interviews.
The analysis of data on breach of antisocial behaviour order was conducted by Ben Cavanagh, a Senior Research Officer in Justice Analytical Services. Ben was also responsible for drafting Chapter Seven and would like to thank the police analysts and local authority officials who provided their administrative data for this analysis.
