4. Aims of the Consultation Process
4.1 This is a new approach for the Scottish Government and it is therefore essential that the Saltire Prize Competition process, structure and guidelines are robust, transparent and fair.
4.2 In particular, the key aim of the consultation is to obtain views on the following issues:
- The extent to which the Saltire Prize can contribute to Scotland's renewable energy targets
- The timeline and structure of the Competition
- The application, administration and judging processes and criteria
- The design of the Competitor Agreement
- Benefits for entrants who achieve "Official Saltire Prize Competitor" status
4.3 This consultation package (paper and Draft Competition Guidelines) seeks views on the final design of the Scottish Government's Saltire Prize. The attached Draft Guidelines detail how the competition will run and sets out the procedures for registration, formal application and acceptance into the "Grand Challenge Period" and judging criteria.
4.4 The Draft Guidelines are annotated with consultation questions and these are detailed in the enclosed Consultation Questionnaire. We are inviting responses to this consultation paper by April 24, 2009. Please send your response with the Completed Respondent Information Form (see "Handling your Response" below) to the following mailbox or address:
