10.1 APPENDIX A: MEDIA COMPOSITION

Columbia Agar with 10% Horse Blood composition: 39g of Columbia Agar base (Oxoid CM331, Special peptone 23.0 g/L, Starch 1.0 g/L, Sodium chloride 5.0 g/L, Agar 10.0 g/L, pH 7.3 ± 0.2)) and 100ml sterile Horse Blood (E&O) in 1L of deionised water

Dent composition: Columbia Blood Agar base with 70ml/L Laked Horse Blood (E&O) and Helicobacter Selective Supplement (Oxoid SR147E, Vancomycin 10mg/L, Trimethoprim 5mg/L, Cefsulodin 5mg/L, Amphotericin B 5mg/L).

R2A (Oxoid CM 0906) composition: Yeast extract 0.5g/L, Proteose 0.5g/L, peptone 0.5g/L, Casein hydrolysate 0.5g/L, Glucose 0.5g/L, Starch 0.5g/L, Di-potassium phosphate 0.3g/L, Magnesium sulphate 0.024g/L, Sodium pyruvate 0.3g/L, Agar 15g/L, pH 7.2 ± 0.2)

LB-agar: for 1L of LB dissolve 10g of tryptone, 5g yeast extract and 10g NaCl in 950ml of water. Adjust pH to 7.0 with NaOH and bring the volume up to 1L. Add 15g/l agar and autoclave on liquid cycle for 20 min at 15psi.
