1. Student loan entitlements are calculated by SAAS but the Student Loans Company extends the loan. These figures relate to entitlement rather than uptake which may be

lower. Prior to 1999/00 students applied for a loan through their institution.

3. In 2006-07 fee loans were introduced and are included within the fees category.

Student numbers in this table have been rounded up or down to the nearest 5.

The table above shows that 40% of students receiving award support have a parental/spousal residual income of under £20,000. This compares with 21% for students receiving fees and 23% for those calculated a loan entitlement.
