APPENDIX FIVE: DESK RESEARCH SOURCES

In particular, the following resources were examined in order to identify key comparative websites within the UK.

  • Central and local government departments, non governmental bodies and relevant stakeholder bodies;
  • Academic journals, Universities and Research Institutes;
  • Specialist media e.g. magazines, newspapers and journals focused on governmental, NDPB, educational, charity or voluntary organisations;
  • General media resources e.g. major newspapers and journals which provide directories / listings of key governmental and non-governmental organisations, e.g. the Guardian's Local Authority Directory 2005/06;
  • Informal "grey" material (unpublished reports, notes, presentations and so on) which referenced key sites, obtained through direct contact with central and local government departments, universities, research institutes and other key organisations and any documentation or references of relevance identified by the Scottish Executive.
