1.3 National Policy Framework

The draft Strategic Plan makes reference to a number of policy documents that underpin seven main strategic outcomes:

i. Sustainable agriculture, forestry and fisheries competitive in markets and contributing to local economies
ii. Well treated and healthy domestic and farm animals
iii. Well maintained landscapes and biodiversity benefiting people and businesses
iv. Rivers, lochs and beaches free of unacceptable pollution
v. Communities protected from flooding, climate change and other environmental hazards
vi. Rural development benefiting local communities
vii. Access to public services for people in rural areas

It is intended that the SRDP will contribute to these strategic outcomes and we have assessed the draft strategy against these outcomes as part of our review. A detailed mapping of the SRDP draft priorities against the relevant strategies will follow.
