Dear Colleagues
THE THROUGHCARE ADDICTION SERVICE AUDIT REPORT (MAY 2007)
I am writing to thank you for your return in respect of the Throughcare Addiction Service (TAS) Audit, to provide you with a copy of the Audit Report and to request an update on TAS implementation by Monday 2 July 2007.
The Throughcare Implementation Sub Group of the Tripartite Group agreed that there should be an Audit of the Throughcare Addiction Service (TAS). The Audit's aim was simply to begin the process of collecting/analysing data and to set a baseline from which to measure future progress.
The Audit covered the period 1st August 2005 to 31st March 2006. At that time, TAS was in the initial stages of its development and the Audit Report highlights emerging concerns about inconsistent national coverage and problems with data collection. It is recognised that the situation will have changed since the time of the Audit.
In issuing the attached Report to local authorities/Community Justice Authorities (CJAs), I am asking you to consider the Report and to provide an update on TAS implementation in your CJA area by Monday 2 July 2007, to include:
- The Officer(s) responsible for TAS and their contact details
- The current TAS arrangements/model in the CJA area
- Any difficulties in TAS provision in the area and the actions planned to remedy these with timescales
- Mechanisms for data collection
I should also like to remind you of the standard TAS forms that were produced by representatives from the Association of Directors of Social Work, the Scottish Prison Service and the Scottish Executive Justice Department. Consistent use of these standard forms will aid the communication and referral process between the agencies.
Copies of these forms are available on the Scottish Executive Justice Department website - http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Justice/criminal/16910/tas.
