The Scottish School Leavers Survey (SSLS) series aims to describe the experiences of young people at school, the decisions they make about staying on or leaving, and their transitions and experiences after leaving school.
The report draws on Scottish experiences since devolution to feed into the Commission’s thinking on how to communicate European issues better. Looking at how the Executive and the Scottish Parliament have engaged people in the political process since 1999, the report suggests a number of ways in which the European institutions and Scottish public institutions can work together in future to allow European policy initiatives to be better communicated and better understood.

The survey has changed this year to collect information according to the academic year in which the placement would occur, rather than the year in which the request was received. This does mean that in this transition year many of the reported requests will be those reported in last year’s publication.
