Acknowledgements
We are grateful to all those who took part in the evaluation. Pilot staff including investigative interviewers and local steering group members gave freely of their time and expertise. We thank especially those in Dundee and Glasgow who spent a great deal of time collecting detailed information from case records, and who helped by providing facilities to host the panels to discuss evidential quality. The panels proved to be rich and informed sources of information, and we thank those professionals who made time to take part. We also thank the other professionals and agency staff, and an eight year old child witness and her mother, who spoke to us about their experiences of visual recording.
Many thanks are due to our research manager, Mark Connelly of SEJD Analytical Services, for his support. Our research advisory group's knowledge and guidance assisted us greatly, particularly in preparing the draft national good practice guidance accompanying this report. We also appreciated the assistance provided by the visual recording pilots national steering group, including access to their interim evaluation results. Written submissions from the national steering group and research advisory group contributed greatly to the accuracy of this report and the content of the guidance. Memberships are listed in Annex 6.
SE research publications are now peer-reviewed. We thank Joyce Plotnikoff who acted as an independent assessor for her very thoughtful and perceptive comments.
