Delivering for Health: Delivering for Mental Health: Using Self-help in Primary Care and Community Based Services - A guide to everyday service delivery for mild to moderate psychological problems

Listen

Summary/Conclusion

This guide is published as an outline guide to the setting up of supported self-help services for mild to moderate psychological problems in primary care and community-based settings. It draws on the lessons learned from the Doing Well by People with Depression Programme. Areas wishing to set up similar services, involving the use of Guided Self-Help Workers and additional services including signposting to community-based services may contact the sites involved in the Doing Well by People with Depression Programme for further information.

Work in the area of increasing capacity for evidence-based psychological interventions is at an early stage in its development and this guide is offered as only one solution to achieving the commitment of "increasing the availability of evidence-based psychological therapies for all age groups in a range of settings and through a range of providers ( Delivering for Mental Health, Commitment 4). This commitment is being taken forward by NHS Education for Scotland.
