Clients very satisfied with Care & Repair

Care & Repair services offer personal, financial and technical support to people facing the difficult task of repairing, improving or adapting a home that is no longer suitable to their needs.

Provision of advice and information is a central part of Care & Repair's role, as well as giving practical assistance with grant applications and co-ordinating repairs. Home-based and personalised, the service puts the client in control of decisions. Each case involves a different approach and often staff must cross disciplinary and departmental boundaries, working closely with health, housing and social work staff, to reach a solution for the client.

Care & Repair services routinely receive client satisfaction ratings of over 90%. Recently Fife Care & Repair received a 99% rating for the overall service provided by the Care & Repair staff provided by clients who had building works completed in 2005/2006.

'Heart-felt thanks'

Mrs Helen Ritchie was one of the delighted clients. She lived in a cottage that did not have mains electricity. Care & Repair assisted her to install mains electricity. Mrs Ritchie said: 'It means a real kitchen with modern appliances - washing machine, fridge/freezer, cooker and even a microwave. To be able to vacuum at any time of the day, not just when the generator is on. And lights on gloomy days and above all warmth. I can hardly believe it. The days of huddling over a temperamental generator on a dark wet November night are all over. Sincere heart-felt thanks, you have changed our lives.'
