With the publication of the discussion document "Transforming Public Services - the next phase of reform" on 15 June 2006 we set out the context for public service reform, the main challenges, the core values and principles we saw as applicable to transformed public services.
We said it was time to look at the whole of the public service landscape and to consider how we need to change to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The discussion document asked 20 specific questions and, as well as publishing it on the web, we sent a copy to 359 public sector leaders and stakeholders and invited comments by 30 September 2006. In total, we have issued 2,000 hard copies and encouraged responses in any format, from as wide a variety of stakeholders as possible.
We have received 68 responses, in a variety of formats, and are currently analysing the responses received. A full analysis of these will be available shortly.
