This is another good way to promote healthy eating and best of all, it's FREE so this will definitly encourage young people to eat healthily. Anything for free food! |
As long as they didn't get rid of vending machines |
Yes, but they should still keep snacks in the school for pupils to purchase at the vanding machines, such as crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks. As i mentioned earlier it should be all about choice. |
Of course they should, but they should still keep the vending machines for other pupils to use. |
Again, there should be a choice, They should offer these sorts of foods to young people, but, especially in secondary schools, there should also be vending machines to sell chocolate, crisps and fizzy drinks. |
Of course, providing they still keep the vending machines, because as i have already mentioned, it is all about choice. |
I think they should offer it to pupils but still keep the not so healthy options in schools like fizzy drinks, chocolate, sweets, etc. |
IF EVERY BODY GET FREE MEALS PEOPLE WILL START EATING HEALTHY FOODS AND BE GOOD IN THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. |
I think that this should be encouraged. Although I feel that again there should be choice and vending machines should still be at a designated part of the school. |
Yes that would be good, as long as they schools fizzy drinks, chocolate and crisps in a seperate part of the school. |
This would be a fantastic idea. Although I must say that they should still keep the vending machines in Schools. I hope that they do not take the vending machines away, ever! |
Free food helps get other people to eat other meals. |
yes but they have to be available to everyone. |
My school does provide free bread with every meal. If you want children to eat healthily, you should start by offering them good food instead of telling them to buy it. |
of course, i am not disputing that, what i am disputing is that there should still be vending machines selling fizzy drinks, etc. There should always be a healthy choice. |
Yes because it encourages us to be health and keeps our concentration up with regular healthy snacks. |
Yes, as this woudl encourage pupils to come into the dinner hall and maybe buy something else. |
I think that pupils shoud be given a piece of fruit, some vegaables and a healthy drink every day. |
That would be a good idea, but they should stil have vending machines in schools which sell fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolates like the do now. |
it's healthy |
it would be encouraging pupils yto eat healthy |
Whilst at primary school around three years ago, the healthy fruit for all scheme was trialed. I know that this was a success. |
it would encourage more people to eat healthily |
Don't see why not, if pupils don't want the healthier meal and the only way to persuade them to go healthier is to give them it free for a short period of time, then yes. |
The prices at our dining hall are terrible, they can charge you 50p for a bag or "healthy" crisps, ú1.50 for a tub of "goo" and another 70p for a little bottle of juice, which you can buy at the shop down the road for 40p!! |
If they did it would encourage other pupils. |
id eat it if it was free |
because students take anychance they can 2 get free food (and belive me, ive seen it) and that way they can get free food which are healthy. |
Yes, something free is always appealing, and if it is healthy it means that kids are more likely to take it. |
If more schools provided students with free healthy food then kids will be less likely to buy sweets and other unhealthy foods and will also be a lot calmer and less hyperactive and also concentrate better (which would be an advantage to the school in the long run <ther statistics>) |
It is unfair that you have to pay for water, fruit, water and bread. |
But there should still be sugary and diet fizzy drinks, crisps, etc for sale |
I don't know if my school does |
Because it is helping them have a more healthy lifestyle. |
There should still be chips on the menu and vending machines should still contain not so healthy options such as chocolate, Fizzy Drinks and crisps. |
There should still be unhealthy snacks and drinks made avaliable for pupils for sale in vending machines. |
Of Course. They should still sell fizzy drinks, chocolate and crisps in vending machines. |
i think that is a good idea |
people are more likely to have healthier things if it is free...a cheaper option |
i think everything healthy should be free |
so we keep healthy |
it should be healthy and promote healthy living |
They should still keep the vending machines tho. |
It would encourage kids to eat healthier as it doesnt cost and they can get a good mixture of everything. |
it would encourage a lot more healthy eating |
It would allow people to try an alternative as for some it might be the first time they have tried something. People may also eat the fruit etc instead of a sugary snack at breaks |
it would encourage more people to eat and drink healthy things if it were free |
WE SHOULD GET HEALTHY FRUIT AND JUICE |
Keep the vending machines tho, which have sugary drinks, crisps, chocolate etc. There should always be a choice. |
Yes they should be allowed to provide their pupils with free healthy drinks, fruit, vegetables, bread etc. but as before, I don't think it should be a compulsory thing |
yes, because it will make the children healthier and give the school a better reputation as a school that cares about its pupils. it will mean that even those who don't have a lot of money will be healthier. |
Of course, by all means. They should still keep vending machines in the school for purchasing things. |
I think a lot of people would really like that, and if healthy foods were taken around the PSE classes once a week or even made available in the dinner hall every day (like how the primary school pupils get the fuel zone pic'n'mix) then I think a lot more people would eat them and maybe start eating healthy on a more regular basis |
Not all pupils may be able to afford the costs. |
This would encourage healthy eating. People would try knew things if they didn't have to pay for them. |
It would be so cool. |
If they did this then maybe they would eat the more healthy things because it is free. |
Fantastic idea, however make sure that a choice is make available so have your free healthy food but at the same time have the sweets so Young people are about to choose |
Because all these contain lots of nutrients and vitamins and they might not get them at home. |
This would encourage more pupils to eat healthily. |
my school has done that. They put up the prices of junk food and drinks so the could buy the healthy ffod. |
Cos then u dont have to pay for them |
It is a great idea because then children are incouraged to eat healthy foods. Where as they might be reluctant to buy these things because of the price |
free healthy food and drinks would be good from a pupils point of veiw but it would cost the school a lot of money in the long run. |
if the people that run the school want to do so i think it would be a great thing to start up but it is up to them i would certainly try to promote this. |
to help us have a healthy diet |
then your money won't go as fast! |
yes, i think that every break time there should be a healthy buffet, including fruit and vegitables! |
THIS WOULD ENCOURAGE MORE CHILDREN TO EAT FRUIT AND VEG. |
Junk food is available at very low prices, which is important to school kids. To truly encourage healthy eating, lowering prices or indeed providing them for free, would greatly help. Free water is essential. |
If the school provides us with free healthy drinks, fruit, vegetables, bread etc? then the school would be helping the children get healthier. I dont think that the school should just order a geat big box of fruit and veg, they should hand out letters at the start of the week to ask the children what they want if they want anything.they should just have the fruit and veg one day a week to save money but it still helps children get healthy. |
em it would encourage us to eat healther food and drink if it was free. |
that will keep them healthy and fit and strong |
you should provide free healthy food because it will make more people healthy but you can have a mixture. |
Yes because it's healthy and if you don't know if you like it you can try it for free. |
If healthy food is free most people would probably choose it more than unhealthy foods though it's nice to have treats every so often. |
Yes, because it would contribute to a healthy lifestyle |
if you want to eat healthy meals then you should be able to get it |
yes because if people want kids to be healthy then they should give out free healthy meals but if people dont give them freethen kids will not buy them because they are not free |
Yes because it would encourage people to eat healthier foods |
Get what you want. |
It would keep the pupils healthy and active |
if its free you will try it but if its for sale people may not buy it |
because if it is free you might try it |
yes because their looking after the pupils in the school and it would be kind but i think children should pay 20 pence for fruit at school. |
there shoulnt have everything healthy though |
because it good 2 eat heathy |
you get to taste it for free but if its for sale people may not buy it and may just buy sweets instead of the healthy, free option |
Why not? fruit and veg is cheaper than unhealthy snacks. |
This is definitely a good idea. Everyone is more enthusiastic about things that are free and it will promote healthy eating in a big way. |
To encourage kids to eat healthier. |
as it would encourage more people to eat and drink healthily |
more appealing if it costs nothing- unhealthy food should be priced higher than the equivalent healthy food |
if they get it for free they will try it and maby ask for it ast home if they allready dont get it |
I think that if children were provided with healthy food and drink for free, they would be more likely to eat it. People do not always want to buy their own. |
I can't see anything wrong with this idea. |
yes because some people might not get enough |
yes because this might encourage people to eat more healthyer |
this will make a lot of pupils healthy |
IT HELPS U CONCENTRATE |
This Will Stop Cildren Getting Fat |
free healthy meals would definitley provide some incentive for kids to eat healthy |
to make us healthy |
to ensure attentionin classes |
Their is hardly any bottles of water avainlable |
good for pupils |
Sounds like a brilliant idea |
it would help promote healthy eating within the school environment. |
yes but the pupils should have the coice |
if they want us to eat healthy they should be able to provide a healthy choice. |
because sometimes if there are free health food on offer more people will get them because they are free and cost nothing and then they might start to eat more healthy food. |
yes i am a healthy eater and would always encourage people to eat healthy but everything is a free chioce with what you do with your bodys but there should ne objection to this. |
They should be allowed to provide it because that kepps the wannabe healthy kids happy and the other kids happy! There should be a large variety offered in schools! |
The school i curently attend (Caldervale High) has a healthy range of food which is also quite expensive and they still have quite a lot of unhealthy foods too. |
Yes helathy food should be offered and free. It would also be good if the government would back ta free healthy fodd campaign through out schools in scotland |
yes if we want to be healthy then we should get it and if we don't want it and we have to pay for it anyway then it's a bit unfair . |
because its healthy |
because its healthy and it mit make you eat it. |
yes because it is good for you. |
I think the people who run the school should have the same meals that the pupils have. |
so it encourages people to have a healthy life style |
We do get free fruit sometimes. |
we should be able to get free fruit without paying for it |
There is one thing that annoys me about my school. They occaisonaly do cakes and always have tubs of fruit. When there is cakes, the frut is always more expensive and it is encouragin pupils to buy cakes instead of grapes, melon, kiwi etc. |
It would let the children taste the food. They might like it and might start eating more of it at home. |
All scottish school aged pupils should have free school meals. |
I think if pupils are offered free food then they're more likely to take it because they don't need to pay for it and this is appealing to them. This will also make sure they have a balanced diet. |
The aim is to encourage healthy eating, so what bettter way than to make it free, or at least noticably cheaper |
Are they not already allowed? I think they should be allowed so that we have other things to eat when we get hungry. |
yes because the pupils wont pay for the food that they dont usually |
my school is starting to do this with bread and fruit and it is becoming a big hit |
The people who run schools should think about what kind of food they are putting on the lunch menu. They should concentrate more on meal deals with pasta and bread and lots of whole grain, not chips and burgers. They should use the money spent on greasy foods to buy fresh fruit and vegetables.
