CHAPTER 3: THE REVIEW PROCESS
The Review Group met on three occasions, the bulk of the work of the Review being conducted by small sub-group meetings and discussions with individuals in the field, between meetings.
At the first meeting the members of the Group agreed that the areas to be addressed by the Review would be grouped into four themes:
- Services for Genetic Medicine
- Education and Training in Genetics for Healthcare Professionals
- Links with the Genetics Research Community and Life Sciences Industry
- Public Awareness and Engagement
A member of the Review Group was nominated to take forward the work in relation to each of the themes and to develop proposals for addressing the issues of importance.
In order to allow consultation with the genetics community in Scotland and promote 'buy in', a Stakeholders Seminar, to which all key players in Scotland were invited was held on 15 th December 2004. At this Seminar the Group's proposals in relation to the four themes of the Review were presented for comment and discussion with the Stakeholders to enable their comments to inform drafting of the Group's final report. The Review Group also invited written comments.
