Appendix 3: Suggested improvements

  • Structure by primary stages rather than levels
  • Needs to cater for composite classes
  • Needs reduced / too much to work through in the time available
  • Extra resource packs would be helpful
  • More practical tasks / too much emphasis on worksheets and written tasks
  • Fine other than web page difficulties
  • Less repetition
  • Needs to be kept up to date
  • Set of Highway Code books for reference
  • Ability to download and amend worksheets / resources from the web
  • More posters / information for children - Highway Code etc / clarified and made more concise but not too childlike
  • Road safety games e.g. snakes and ladders
  • Some simpler worksheets
  • Send representatives out to deliver parts of the programme - allows more liaison and involvement between policy makes and practitioners
  • More extension activities for more able pupils especially problem solving or investigative activities
  • Would be great if someone was available to speak to pupils in assembly or present some aspects of the resource
  • Differentiated worksheets for less/more able pupils
  • Props like fluorescent or reflective materials to show
  • Worksheets rather small for infants - pictures and wording
